Pictured is the First Church in Springfield, Massachusetts. Springfield was first settled by people from both the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the Plymouth Colony in 1636. Many of my ancestors lived here or passed through here. Although a very historic town, much of it's history is difficult to imagine since it has become a very modern city. Even the old burying grounds are gone now. In 1848 the remains of people interned there were removed to other locations. The majority were moved to a mass grave in Springfield Cemetery on Maple Street. None of my ancestors who died in Springfield have a grave I can visit now.
