Pictured is the founders rock in Middletown with the Riverside Cemetery behind it. Thomas Whitmore was a founder of the Connecticut towns of Wethersfield and Middletown. Thomas is buried in The Riverside Cemetery in Middletown, however the exact location of his grave is unknown. I am working on Middletown pages for this site and hope to have them up soon. Since Middlefield was once part of Middletown do not forget to check that location.
The name of Thomas was probably originally Whitmore. Various town records in the colonies listed his name under different spellings including Whitmore and Wetmore, however most of his sons were listed in records as Wetmore. Thomas was one of the original founders of Middletown, Connecticut. Thomas had 3 wives and 17 children during his lifetime and died at the age of 66 in Middletown, Connecticut.
