The first Dewey to enter the colonies now known as the United States was Thomas Dewey, often referred to as Thomas Dewey, the settler. All early American Dewey's descend from him. There have been scores of other Thomas Dewey's after him, including his son but he was the first in this country. There is much speculation on his heritage, but none of it has been proven. This page will be a index to all the Dewey lines on this site. I will begin with my own direct lines then return to fill in siblings of my ancestors. Please be patient. The index below is organized by year of birth in 100 year increments.
